The Highlight of the trip

This program combines an excellent chance for you to be closer to the elephant, take care of them, and visit the famous site of Doi Inthanont’s highest peak in Thailand, just two days with the lovely atmosphere of the big hug of the forest.

 

 

 Itinerary

Day 1  Elephant Learning and Caring + Overnight in the hill tribe homestay.

Pick up time at 07:30 am.

Pick up from your hotel and head south of Chiang Mai for around an hour and a half. On the way, visit the day local market, See the locals shop their ingredients for cooking and other local stuff. Then reaching the elephant place, after arrival, you are going to learn about the history and the behaviour of Asian Elephants in Thailand as well as elephant care, ethics and all issues about the elephants in Thailand and meeting the elephants and making friends by feeding them with the organic foods prepared in the sanctuary. Then take a walk and hike with the elephants through the jungle. This is a time to observe how to find their food and natural behaviour. Local-style lunch serves in the green banana leaves. After lunch, learn hand on making raw herb balls for the elephants and then bring them to the river to cool down. Here you could enjoy watching them playing and swimming in the river and join them in the river if you prefer. After that, let them relax. During this time, you will rest in the homestay area or enjoy swimming in the river or the waterfall as you prefer. Late afternoon, it is time for you to learn cooking in Thai and Karen tribe local cuisines and cook your dinner. After dinner, enjoy with the team around the campfire under the starlights and night sky. Have a good night in the lovely forest area.

Day 2 Doi Intanont National Park + Soft trek at Pha Dork Siew Waterfall Walk.

Wake up in the lovely atmosphere, have breakfast, and then say goodbye to the elephants before heading to Doi Inthanont, the highest peak of Thailand, 2,565 meters above sea level. See the highest peak of Thailand with the stupa of King Inthawitchayanon, the last King of the Lanna Kingdom before we became Siam and Thailand later on. At the height stand the King’s stupa among the cool climate in summer and cold in winter. Enjoy a 30-minute walk on the Angka nature trail. See the lush green forest area and feel fresh with the cool breath against your face. Then continue to the Twin Pagodas for King Rama, the 9th of Thailand, and his Queen as the 60th birthday anniversary, built by the Thai Lada Air Force Radar Station and locals. Visit the Hmong hill tribe market, where they sell their vegetables and fruits product instead of opium, and have lunch in the local restaurant. Then we met our new friend, the Karen man from the “Pa Ka Yor” hill tribe, who would lead us on the walk through the forest area to the village.

On the walking trail, see “Pha Dork Siew Waterfall”, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in this area. See the beautiful scenery, lush green forest, and different biodiversities of life. The walkway has both an easy walk and part of the exciting one. The stop will be made close to the waterfall for you to relax near the fresh cooling water. Enjoy the lovely view of the waterfall before continuing the walk through the terrace rice fields and coffee plantation that belong to the Karen Hill tribe who work for the King’s Royal project before reaching the village. After getting to the town, have some fresh Arabica coffee that the villager grows. Then Wachiratharn Waterfall, with 750 meters high robust and powerful current of the water and the new spray against your face. Take a short walk around to take photos before returning to Chiang Mai City.

Overnight: Own hotel booking. Drop off at Chiang Mai Airport for the evening (late evening flight)

Weather tips

November – February

During the winter in Thailand, from November to February, the temperature ranges from 5-12 degrees Celsius / 41-54 degrees Fahrenheit. It is essential to come prepared with appropriate clothing to stay warm. This period is considered the best time for travelling in Thailand due to the lovely and cool weather. The landscape is covered with blooming flowers and lush vegetation, which makes the biodiversity of birds and wildlife plentiful.

March-May

From March to May, it is summertime, with temperatures ranging from 28 to 33 degrees Celsius (82 to 91 degrees Fahrenheit). The hottest time of the year is in April when temperatures reach as high as 43 degrees Celsius (109 degrees Fahrenheit), and it is recommended to bring light and thin clothing, as well as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen lotion.

June – October

This is the rainy season, with temperatures ranging between 18 – 25 degrees Celsius / 64 -77 degrees Fahrenheit. An umbrella or raincoat is recommended, and sandals or waterproof shoes are the best footwear options during these months.
